Choice Morsels From the Word

THIS IS THE LAST PREACHER'S PAGE JERRY WROTE.

"After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will show thee things which must be hereafter". (Rev. 4:1)

Scripture Reading: Revelation 4 and Revelation 5

I am writing this devotion on Barbara's birthday, January 1, but I have instructed her not to send it out until after my death.

I have been studying and considering what I will see, and what will take place and what I will do after I die, and there is really not much in the Bible which tells us. Many things it speaks about will take place after the rapture, and not after our individual deaths. In these 2 chapters in Revelation, it covers a time period after the rapture, at the beginning of the tribulation. But, I wonder if I will not be taking part of worship of our Lord? We know, even now, the first day of 2013, there is worship taking place in heaven. Consider several verses, Isaiah 6:13, Seraphims are active in worship. Ezekiel 1 speaks of created beings, being busy in worship. Will I be doing less?

I realize that I will not be receiving my new body immediately, that will take place at the rapture of the church (I Thess. 4: 13-18). But I will be present with the Lord (Phil. 1:23-24 ; II Cor. 5:8). I believe even without a new body I will no doubt be falling at his feet in worship (Rev. 1:13-18). I wonder if I will have some kind of intermediate body? The disciples saw Moses and Elijah in bodies on the Mount Transfiguration. (Mt. 17:1-4).

If you noted in II Cor. 5:8, we will be absent from the body, but will be aware of being in the very presence of the Lord. That's where I find myself right now. I trust my wife and family take comfort in that. I am in heaven, in a place where I no longer have pain or the weakness of the mind or the agitation of the mind. I am in heaven, the place of my loved ones who were saved and had gone on before, my son Vaughn, my mother and father and others. I believe I will know them. Faith will be and is turned into sight. I am sure I am marvelling over the things I see and understand and know.

I am finally conformed to the image of my Lord Jesus Christ (Rom. 8:29) and I am glorified. I am like Him (I John 3:1-3). I realize it is not like it will be when all of God's children, the body of Christ, the church, will be gathered together. But, I know today (Jan. 1,2013) it will be great, I know I will continue to wonder, and muse over what it will be like but I know it will be beyond my wildest dreams. What language will I speak, will I know the songs of praise and worship, or will I have to learn them?

My prayer in 2013 and also now in heaven is that you will make sure you are ready to meet me. Do you truly know the Lord? "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen" (Rev. 22:21).

We wanted to put this in the "Choice Morsels" but he was still with us when the book was finished. This is a verse I found this morning and thought it so good since Jerry said, "I am finally conformed to the image of my Lord Jesus Christ". -Barbara States
